Tuesday

Girls Hockey – vs. North Shore, Section 7A quarterfinal in Proctor, 6 p.m. Game Notes: The second-seeded Mirage (15-8-2) will be a heavy favorite against the Storm (9-16-0), seeded seventh. The winner advances to face the winner of the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton vs. Hibbing-Chisholm quarterfinal Saturday at 11 a.m. in Proctor. Duluth Marshall is the top seed in 7A. The 7A final is Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. in Proctor. The Mirage, 4-0-1 in its last five, is led by senior forward and scoring leader Izy Fairchild (20 goals and 38 points).  

Alpine Skiing – at Giants Ridge, TBA

Wrestling – at North Branch, 2 p.m.

Girls Basketball – at Pine City, 7 p.m. Game Notes: The Hawks (5-14) have six regular season games remaining, including the next five on the road. Hermantown defeated Hibbing 56-48 and lost to Superior 50-39 last week at home. Junior center Olivia Johnson and sophomore guard Bailey Hermanson are two of Hermantown’s top players. Pine City is 14-5.

 

Thursday

Girls Basketball – at Grand Rapids, 7:15 p.m. Game Note: The Thunderhawks are 9-10.

 

Friday

Wrestling – host multiple schools, 4 p.m.

Boys Hockey – at Class 2A/No. 6 Benilde-St. Margaret’s, 7 p.m. Game Notes: The Class 1A/No. 2-ranked Hawks (13-7-2) have lost three of their last four, against all elite Class 2A opponents, and have three regular season games remaining. Hermantown is also scheduled to host Chaska (4-17-0) on Saturday before finishing at Grand Rapids (13-9-0) Tuesday. Benilde-St. Margaret’s is 16-4-1. The Hawks continue to be led by senior goaltender Dane Callaway (1.72 goals-against, .939 saves pct.), scoring leaders River Freeman and William Esterbrooks (26 points each) and super-sophomore D/F A.J. Francisco (14 points in 14 games). Looking ahead, the Hawks figure to easily defending their Section 7A title and could face top-ranked Warroad in the 1A state final.  

 

Saturday

Girls Hockey – Section 7A semifinal, 11 a.m. Game Note: The Mirage will face either Cloquet-Esko-Carlton or Hibbing-Chisholm.

Nordic Ski – at Pine Valley in Cloquet, 11 a.m.

Boys Hockey – host Chaska, 3 p.m. Game Note: Chaska is a dangerous 2A opponent, despite its 4-17-0 record.
